Nine months in jail, two years of probation, and is barred from driving a car without court consent. You all will remember this idiotic Corvette driver for that idiotic crash last year in Ann Arbor, when he crashed into a tree at 90mph on Huron River Drive(he was going 125mph 5 seconds before the crash).

I’m not gonna act like a “holier than thou” ass about this, because everyone does stupid crap and buhoonery on the public roads at least once in a while (hopefully not to this extent though), I know I have, but it is nice to see actual consequences for this.

125mph in a 35 zone. Jesus. Barring the obvious terrible decision making at play, it’s somewhat impressive he managed to get to that speed on what was described as a low-speed, twisty road

Rich parents. Come to Richmond BC and witness hundreds of teenagers rocking 200k+ super/hypercars.

They get caught tripling speed limits, the cops seize the cars, and half the time the people just walk away from them and upgrade.

It didn’t “happen.” You make decisions, consequences follow. This kid needs a Red Forman in his life in a big way. Might have kept him out of jail.

I fully believe this. A hard whack to the head, even on an airbag, and you can lose the last few minutes.

When interviewed by police, Gong said he was going 45 to 50 miles per hour when something ran out into the road, causing him to cross the center line and hit a tree

So in addition to the felony, he lied to police, or to the judge, but maybe not both, and got 9 months instead of closer to the max of five years. I’m not feeling sorry for him.

Corvettes are fast as shit and you dont really notice it either. I know when I rented a C7 and wanted to “see what it could do” while accelerating onto a highway onramp, I was going much faster than I anticipated lol. And many other times where I just needed to simply pass someone on a highway or shoot a gap. There were many three digit speedometer occurances during that trip where I had absolutely no idea without looking down to see it. 110 in that car felt like 70 in my Miata. So its not all that surprising if there was any bit of straight road before that turn.

Exactly. I’ve spent a lot of time in the lower mainland, I’ve seen it. There needs to be progressive penalties, and maybe some audits of where this dynastic wealth was sourced.

There’s a very similar demographic in some Seattle suburbs. An alarming amount of of the McLarens/late model Astons/Ferraris/Porsches etc I see are driven by under-25s who’ve never had a job.
